Official Life and Politics

Working since 1976 in an office that is apex in the country,  the abode of politics, but I regret to my self that I could never learn politics, the politics - people play in daily life, just to get petty gains, just to get the place they don't deserve, just to have fun of having ditched others and to play games to serve their personal ends.    Would be retiring after some time, but definitely with remorse that I could never give them befitting reply.  But with satisfaction that I have not spoiled my nature.

Phailin and the disaster

Prior knowledge of cyclone could enable government to avert the loss of life that was likely to be caused in east coastal states of India.  Kudos!  But it pains a lot as what will the people who have lost all the things in the event would do now.  They have lost all their belongings, property, money, livelihood and  every other things.  It would not be an easy task for them to start afresh and that too where necessary infrastructure too has been washed away.  I wish them to be brave and have faith in god.

Super cyclone Phailin

The super cyclone has hit the coast of Odissa.   A lot of preparation has already been made to minimise the impact and the loss as a result thereof.  Thanks to the advancement of science that the prior knowledge of the cyclone could enable the government and the disaster management authorities to take all the steps to save life of people of the areas which were expected to be effected.

Hindi Pakhawara

On 14 September 1949, Hindi was adopted as an official language of the Constituent Assembly. The decision of using Hindi as the official language was ratified by the Constitution of India that came into effect on 26 January 1950. Under the Article 343 of the Indian Constitution, the Devanagri script of Hindi was adopted as the official language.   After the declaration, non-Hindi speaking states received a grace period of 15 years till the year 1965 in order to switch over to Hindi language completely. It was declared that Hindi would be the only working language of the Union Government of India as well as the State Governments.

But in fact Hindi has not received its intended status.  English is still used as main language in all the offices of states as well as centre  though the practice of all the papers being presented in official language i.e. Rajbhasha Hindi along with English is followed in some of the offices, that too in north India only.

But it is very unpleasant rather shameful that Hindi, the official language of India, the hindustan, gets a voice once in a year i.e. on 14th September, when offices celebrate Hindi Diwas and for that purpose Hindi Pakhwara, a fortnight of giving a bit importance to Hindi, treating it like a festival for that particular period and then forgetting it till next 14th september.

It definitely is a shame to a nation who, despite having its own language Hindi as official language, gives it the status of a second language.   Nowhere else in the world, people treat their very own language in such a humiliating tone.   Why do we need to celebrate Hindi Pakhwara even after such a long period of independence. In a democratic country like India the states have been given choice to use their language for official purposes but it should have been made mandatory to use Hindi by all states as the first language for official purposes and English and their own language should be the second/third.

This would have gone a long way in bringing about unity and harmony in the whole country.
